When you hear the name James Bond, you most likely picture the legendary character himself, but you may also think of the accompanying soundtrack, which is rightly considered a staple of British film music. The exciting soundtrack to the first film with James Bond, called Dr. No (1962) was written by Monty Norman, after which five-time Academy Award winner John Barry took up the mantle making the soundtrack for the associated tv series for over twenty years. Subsequently, the music for the iconic “Bond films” was composed by legends such as David Arnold, Michael Kamen, Thomas Newman and Hans Zimmer.

Due to their world renown, Bond melodies are often played on stage by orchestras and heard within concert halls, and this year is no exception. As part of the ŠPILBERK FESTIVAL, viewers will have the chance to listen to a selection of film music from the most famous “Bond” movies, set ideally within the large courtyard of Špilberk Castle.
